1998 Honda Accord LX review from North America

New cv boots, new catalytic converter, new distributor system, and a few other things; now it is stalling at startup/ threatening to stall when starting from a stop, and we smell something burning. It will be getting checked out as soon as I can afford it. Also, I had my regular mechanic check it last time the engine light went on (which happens all the time) and he said I am missing my distributor shield, unless they came out with some new model of the part that doesn't have one (this is right after I paid a dealer in another city I had been living in to replace all the distributor business.) There is a broken clip on the left side of the driver's seat, causing it to shift during braking. This was fixed when I purchased it, but broke agains right away. The paint on the bumpers was bad, but the used car dealer I got it from had them fully repainted when I bought it. I live and park on the street in a city, though, and they are getting horribly scrathed up again. (my car is silver.) Also, the particular silver is very hard to find for touch-up. I had to specially order paint.

I don't want to knock the car totally; it has never stranded me despite all of its engine-fussiness; but I am dissappointed with it. I had a '92 civic that was a dream to own before it, and had to replace it because it wasn't up to the amount/type of driving I needed to do anymore. We arecurrently looking to go down to one car by the end of the summer, and sadly, the accord is just too expensive to maintain, so it will be going. I can't say I've lost confidence in Honda though, because every once in a while you'll find a prarticular car that is trouble. It does sound like the 4 cyl. LX's aren't as good as some of their others, though...

And yes, I do keep up on the maintenence- but I can't speak for the 3 previous owners habits..
