1996 Honda Ascot Rafaga CS (crusing sport) review from Australia and New Zealand
"Ideal Reliable car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing mechanical.
The red pain on the roof, boot and rear bumper have become more pink the red like the rest of the car. Rather a bad look, but fine in general still shinny and new.
Horn interior button has broken and fallen out.
That's about it.
General comments?
Good sporty little car for the price.
The 5 clyinder engine performs quite well and is rather unique. Makes 120kws and 185nm of torque. Does lack power under 3500rpms, but after that it picks up really well and sounds pretty neat! :)
The auto generally works well when driving normally. However when going up hill since the engine lacks torque you need to put more gas on the pedal and the next thing you know your at 5000rpm as it has kicked down even when the pedals 1/2 down. A bit jumpy and irritating when you don't want any kick down! : (
Interior is comfortable for short trips and well built. Stock stereo with cd stacker is great and so is the a/c feature. However lots of road noise and you feel just about every vibration.
I took this for a long trip and the rougher roads were horrible, got a really sore back and just was not enjoyable.
Surprisingly not the most ecconomical car around does about 10km/l if I'm lucky - I would have expected better.
Appart from those small problems a very nice little car. However I'm selling it to replace it with a luxury Lexus sc400 as I'm needing the extra v8 torque and smooth ride quality - amazingly this car has similar gas mileage to the honda even being a v8!
