1997 Honda Civic LX review from North America
"Adequately great"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The sealant lining the driver-side headlight came unglued, thereby letting water into the headlight.
Original windshield wipers replaced because they did left glaring water streaks.
The brake-blocks (I do not know the exact term) wore out and cracked at about 60,000 miles.
General comments?
The car is perfect for commuting within town or city, however it is not recommended to drive on long distances.
The seats are adequate enough, but not completely comfortable--it's a economy car, what do you expect?
The 106-horsepower engine is sufficient, and I supposedly get 29 city, 35 highway. Acceleration varies for me at times; sometimes I go quickly, other times I lag very much and do not get any burst in speed for five or so seconds. Nonetheless, it gets the job down without having excessive power.
The car's cabin is pleasant, ergonomic, simple. I have beige cloth with dark-tan and black dashboard and center console, and cleaning it (whether vacuum or wet cloth) is easy.
Trunk space is more than adequate I feel. The folding-down seats are very helpful when putting a bike in the car (though I've been semi-successful with that in the first place).
Going 70 mph or more makes the steering wheel vibrate uncontrollably. By 90, my hands and arms are amusingly shaking.
