"This is a good car if you have a lot of money to put into it and if you know how to repair it"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The car was great when I first got it then it seemed like every other month the car had to go to the shop. Once the timing belt needed changed I took it to the dealership then about two months later it started making a really weird noise and the steering wheel was vibrating really bad so I took it back to the dealership they tried telling me once again that the timing belt needed changed. I told them that it was very funny since they just had claimed to had done that two months earlier.

Another thing about Honda's is the windows seem to break a lot I had to replace both windows in mine and also have two other friends with Honda's and they have both had to replace theirs also.

More currently the power steering fluid has been leaking which I normally have to refill at least every two months. Also the oil has started to leak also which needs to be filled once a month. In the past two and a half months the car has overheated twice and been put in the shop both times. The worst part is that just two weeks ago I was driving down a busy road during lunch hour and I was doing close to 40 mph when the car just died luckily I was able to get the car to keep rolling until I could get to the next parking lot.

When I first got the car I loved it, but towards the end I was very happy to see it go.

General comments?

Be careful when looking into purchasing a Honda.

Funny how I have never had problems with my power windows... I had almost 300,000 miles on my original window motors without problems. In my household we have at least 7 Hondas and no window problems. All of our GM or Fords have tape holding the windows shut. Perhaps you do not know as much as you do about Hondas.

Ps..you obviously got screwed on the timing belts. I take mine to independent shops that do the job for 500 bucks and the car runs better than anything else on the road like it.

Amazing how this is the only negative report on these cars.

I won't buy another vehicle other than Honda.

It's because when somebody buys a Honda and knows how to properly maintain it, it will pretty much run forever. It's the people who buy Honda's thinking that they need no maintenance that have the bad experiences.

I've had my '95 Civic LX 1.5L 5S trans over 6 years and now have 210,000 miles on it and it still runs great. I replaced the exhaust system twice (I buy the cheap aftermarket ones), both drive axles and the right front wheel bearing. I commute 75 miles mon-fri and get 40mpg. I do all the maintenance & repairs myself. I am 63 and find it very easy to work on. Great car. Gonna want another one about 2014 when this one wears out.
