The driver side window starts acting up. Gets stuck half way and just keeps going up and down in that area. Doesn't happen always, but on rare occasions like when the car is washed and the window rubber is a bit sticky. Honda ppl couldn't fix it till now. I think they have no idea what is wrong either... they will try tochange the whole door eventually.
Second Downside is overall handling at high speeds. Turning on a slightly bumpy road makes the car wobble a bit too much for comfort and you experience under-steer or over-steer depending which way the car is going. Makes you feel pretty unsafe. But apart from that isn't much of an issue.
One change would be welcome is the re-positioning of the Hand-brake lever. Ur knee gets a bit restless when driving and hitting/resting against the lever.
Some noise in the dashboard of a loose wire hitting the inside is pretty irritating on rough roads, but then again... its local... you don't expect perfection and moreover you can't do anything about it either. Well yes stop buying these cars, but... what choice do you have... lol.
Overall an excellent car to drive. Superb automatic transmission. Excellent pick up and brakes. Not a street racer as the suspenssion needs to be better tuned for our pakistani road and turns specially considering it's a fast car.
Is quick at any point, but not the best when it comes to road handling. A Suzuki Mehran has a more secure (fast) turn then the civic. IMHO. (yes i own a Mehran also which i drive soley for pleasure driving, one of the best and the worst cars ever ;)
Cabin is excelent . Perfect sound system. Great trim. Perfect lighting. I would say is definetly a good car. But to be honest not worth the price tag. U would expect something more perfect then this.
Price apart, still is a joy to drive and probably one of the best interiors in the local market todate.
Yes Civic's are not only overpriced in your market, but the world over as well. Unfortunately people in America (where I live) don't seem to realize this and blindly buy them in droves. For instance here we have the civic which is 18,000 $, the VW rabbit which is 17,000$, and the mazda 3 which is 16,500 $ (all in USD and of a similar trim level). And of all these cars the civic has the least features of them all and still uses rear drum brakes while the others use superior and far safer disc's. I agree the civic is a good car, but it is quite overpriced.
Superior and FAR safer? A bit of an overstatement. 75% of braking is done (because of the weight transfer) by the front brakes, so the rear brakes don't have that much strain on them. Disk brakes are better, but not really necessary for effective and efficient stopping. The drawback of rear disks is that they cost FAR more to fix and they don't last nearly as long as a drum brake. The EX Honda comes with 4 wheel disk brakes. I agree the cars are too expensive. By the time you get into a Civic EX you might as well look at an Accord LX/ LX-P. Much more car for not a lot more cash. The Civic is a huge seller, though, and that is what drives the price. If you had something everyone wanted, you'd charge more for it too, wouldn't you?
After owning pretty much every Honda Civic launched by Atlas Honda in Pakistan (with the exception of the 1995 model), I can safely say that this current model adds more in terms of technology, design, passenger comfort, overall value for money, etc than any replacement model before.
However, it has to be said that for the same price (Rs. 1.5 mln approx for the top spec model), you can buy a second hand imported Honda Accord CL7 in exceptional condition.
Other than that, my main gripes with the civic are the power windows, which do get stuck - and the fuel consumption. My car (now driven 15,000km), gives me barely 7.5km/litre. My previous VTi used to average at least 9km/litre.
Is everyone experiencing this? Or is it just me? Honda claims 12-14km/litre, but that's a joke, frankly.
