1992 Honda Civic DX review from North America
"Reliable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Years 1992 through 2005 - nothing goes wrong, just did regular recommended maintenance and oil changes as per the owner's manual and the only time it did not start was whenever I needed a brand new battery. There is a minor oil pan leak since 2005 that I hear about, but did nothing about as it is always mentioned, but does not affect performance.
2006 boots are cracked.
2007 oil pan and gasket should be replaced completely.
Light switch contacts wore out so that the lights don't go on when the light wand is put in the 'on position' but I can get the front and rear and dash lights on when in the 'in between position'. Wheel cylinder leak. Water pump minor leak that just needs to be watched.
General comments?
The first 13 years were great, no problems, just do regular recommended service and the car runs.
Exterior black rubber trim around the windows started to peel so I just painted over some matte black paint on the shiny metallic trim area to make it look nicer.
