2003 Honda Civic LX review from North America

"The best car for the money"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I have had no real problems with my current Honda.

But my clutch squeaks when it gets wet. Not a real problem. Yes the drivers side map light gets stuck, but unsticks with a little work, plus I never use it.

General comments?

In a time with gas over 3 dollars a gallon, I am very happy I bought my Honda. I have a stick shift and get over 30 miles a gallon. For the price you cannot get a more reliable car. It needs gas "of course", proper air pressure in tires for the best gas mileage. Oil changes are good every 5,000 miles, but you may be able to get more miles between changes.

This is my third Honda in a row I have owned. I first bought a civic crx for $1500. I put on 35,000 miles to bring it up over 110,000 miles. I tried to kill it with hard driving, but it never gave up. I put on 4 cheap tires and fixed a worn CV joint. I sold it for $2000 from my driveway, in about 10 minutes. I put the sign on the car and when I got in the house I got a call from my driveway.wow.

So I went to the honda dealer and bought a 1999 civic lx. I drove that car for 80,000 miles and started to have a problem. It needed a O2 sensor. This was probably due to one of three factors.

1: I drove through a few deep puddles that stalled the car. New England weather.

2: I almost never down shift, just coast in neutral,

Brings the mileage up, but bad for compression.

3: New england cold weather, I don't wait for the car to warm up. 10 degrees, start up and go.

I brought it to the dealer and instead of fixing it

they gave me 8,000 dollars for it. I financed a new one @ 1.9% over four years. What a great deal. Now I have the 2003 and am very happy with it.
