1997 Honda Civic Hatchback review from North America
"Fun and easy to drive and it's reliable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Most of it was from abuse by previous owners.
Cracked head at 414,000mi, it leaked antifreeze and it overheated.
Third light went out, and I was able to fix it myself.
The belts tend to slip, however its just noise. It does not affect performance.
Emergency brake went at 406,000mi.
2 fuses blew at 410,000 which was the cigarette lighter and the radio.
General comments?
A very well reliable made Honda. Just the things that went wrong was from abuse from former owners and it already came with high mileage. So the rest of the problems are normal and can happen on any car.
It rides very nice between 40-55MPH. The seats are comfortable with lots of headroom and legroom for a small car. Its got quite pep for a little 1.6 motor, and handles the car well. This car is fun to drive and easy to park.
2 negative things I have to say.
1. Does not handle well when the car is full of people.
2. Lack of power going up a hill.
Other than that I highly recommend it!!
I totaled my 94 Civic in an accident which was not my fault.
Next Honda I get is one with 4wd.
