1999 Honda Civic DX review from North America

Nothing except the seats are uncomfortable, which is why I'm starting to have back pains.

I was just given a 1999 Honda Civic DX from the company I work for. It's a 1.6 engine with 117k reading on the odometer. My old Mazda was falling apart and I just did not trust it being on the road no more.

I use this car for work, and I drive 90 miles a day, which I already put 500 miles on it in the 3 days since I got it. The way the car is made, it makes the drive between work and home fun.

The gas mileage is what this car is based on. Driving 75 mph I get 35mpg. Driving 55mph I get 45mpg.

Now get this a co-worker of mine has a Toyota Prius, which is a hybrid that gets 45mpg on the highway, which is the same as this Civic gets, and the Prius gets 48mpg in the city, which is only a tiny bit more, but not that much. This tells me the Prius is not as fuel efficient as people thought they were. They are just expensive, and that's because Toyota is a rip off and also overrated.

I like everything about this car except the seat comfort. After driving for about 1 hour, I feel a bit stiff.

My own car is a 2000 Mitsubishi Mirage DE, which is also a great car, but at least that's comfortable, so I only drive it outside of work. Since the 99 Civic is not comfortable, I only use it for work, but I still like it.
