2002 Honda Civic Si review from North America

"Factory flawed in the name of safety"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The problems I have all came with the vehicle.

General comments?

1. The stereo on this vehicle is absolute garbage. I have had 2 create unwanted cracking during music already. I had them replaced and when I saw what came out I was shocked. It comes with flimsy plastic and paper speakers with no magnets. They are the cheapest speakers I have ever seen in my life. The only speakers in the vehicle that are decent are the component tweeters in the front doors. Otherwise this stereo system is a joke.

2. The moon roof has a "safety feature" that only allows you to close the moon roof halfway before you have to let off the button and press it again to close it the remainder of the way. They call it a safety feature as it is supposed to stop children from closing arms in the moon roof, but the moon roof is so slow in the first place that it would never happen. Plus it forces the driver to concentrate on the moon roof longer and the road less. Which in my opinion only jeopardizes my safety more. The dealer will not advise how to remove this feature.

3. The buttons to the moon roof and the internal lights are very tightly placed together. Half the time I reach for the internal lights, I hit the moon roof button and opposite as well.

4. The cruise control button is hidden behind the steering wheel and turn signal bar. And I mean completely hidden. There is no way the driver can position themselves to see whether it is on or off or even where they need to press to turn it on. This is without a doubt a safety concern as it forces the driver to bend over or lean excessively to see it at all.
