"A Masterpiece From Honda!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The clutch release bearing has decided to go, but it as expected and I can't complain really. Nothing else has given any problems.

General comments?

The Civic VTi 3 door hatchback has Hondas great 1.6ltr B16a2 VTec engine, which is 160bhp standard!! very fast and capable of keeping up with much larger sports cars etc. the VTec kicks in arounr the 5,500rpm mark and redlines at 8,500rpm... with a few mods this cars bhp can be taken well over the 200bhp mark.

Road handling and cornering is superb with these cars, roll bars all round as standard also.

The interior may not be the most comfortable to some, but the sports seats hold you in nice and tight, which is a must in this car :o)

Extras include electric everything, twin airbags, factory tinted windows, high level brake light, adjustable headlight beams, ABS, central locking etc.

If your considering a VTi trust me when I say you will love it and enjoy it!!

The Civic VTi is 160bhp, thought the B16 part would've given it away that is was a 1600 also available in a 1800cc producing 175bhp, hate people who slag people off about a subject they clearly know nothing about.

The b16A engine produces 150/160 bhp - depends if it's UK or Japanese spec.

The old shape Civic Type R with the b16b engine produces 185bhp.

The b18 engine in the Civic 1.8vti produces 169bhp and the b18c engine in the Integra Type R produces 190bhp in UK spec, and 197bhp if it's the japanese spec model.

Hope that clears it up.

Hi! I would just like to know, what does the 1997 honda Civic Type R engine have that the VTi doesn't?

If your talking about the japanese ek9 Civic Type R with the b16b engine, then it has higher compression than the 1.6 VTi (VTi 10:4, Type R 11:1), about 400rpm more, and slightly different cams and obviously different fuel settings.

If it's the same differences between the 1800 VTi and the Integra b18c engine, then a slightly different intake as well.
