2001 Honda Civic LX review from North America
"Solid reliability, okay performance"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Occasionaly fails to start. I'll turn the key, the engine will spin, but nothing happens. If I take the key out and try again it starts right up like nothing wrong ever happened.
Accident at 20,000 bumper replaced. Low speed hit from the rear, minor cosmetic damage, but repair cost was over $600.
General comments?
Handling is good, sharp turns and dosen't slide around unless you're using it as a racecar. A civic is absolutly not a racecar and should not be driven as such.
Pickup is pathetic. This is my biggest complaint about the car. My prior car a '95 Saturn outruns this one even with 140,000 miles. You hit the gas and prepare to wait a second and a half before acceleration kicks in.
Fuel economy is poor for a four cylinder engine, I'm getting around 28mph average as opposed to 33 with my Saturn. Not bad, but could be improved.
Comfort is high, nice legroom, cool A/C, and seats plushie enough to drive for six hours straight without any trouble. Far more comfortable than the perviously mentioned saturn.
Noise, pretty dang quiet, engine can be a little loud during hard acceleration, but while crusing you'll hardly hear a thing. Very nice change from the Saturn.
Stereo. The base sound system is actually pretty nice. It's not going to let everyone around you know what you're listning to, but it's very good clean stereo sound and very nice for those long road trips.
