2001 Honda Civic LX review from North America
"The car is definitely a great buy for I ts price range"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The car's interior fan is weaker than it was upon purchase.
The rubber valance piece under the front clip fell off around 12,000 miles.
Rear wheels are sagging out wards after 100,000 miles.
The stock car alarm seems to go off after leaving the car unlocked for more than 30 seconds then re-entering the vehicle.
Once a month the stock Honda radio security system trips and makes you type in the pass code. This seems to be from the plastic cap over the positive battery terminal, trapping condensation.
The left front window came off its guides and fell into the door.
The power windows have trouble powering themselves up wards on rainy days.
At exactly 120,000 miles the front brake's need to be heavily serviced even when the car has been driven carefully. New pads and rotors are definitely in order.
General comments?
The car is very reliable, I've yet to experience any major problems.
The car is rather comfortable, but the seats take along time to get used too. Everything on the interior of the car has a smooth operation.
The stock sound system has a great overall sound quality, but there is an annoying spot when setting the volume between quiet and blaring.
The car does not seem to lack power, but definitely is not a v6. It's no sports car by any means, but rather a good economic car that gets 35 mpg. The car does not struggle in passing other cars on the interstate and it handles quite well even at speeds over 110 mph.
The plastic spark plug cover with plastic screws, seems to be rather fragile. Luckily with the stock platinum spark plugs you won't be dealing with that problem for awhile.
Changing the oil on this car is no laughing matter, The oil filter is in the most inconvenient spot to possibly get to. Pay the extra 30$ to get it done at a drive through service.
