2002 Honda Civic Type R review from UK and Ireland
"FANTASTIC"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Head light dip is not working.
General comments?
Very quick for a 2.0 4cyl. I won't bore you with 0-60 times, who actually does 0-60?
Once you get it in the V-tec zone it fly’s, plus due to the gearing you can keep it in the 'zone' all the time, down the twisting turning lanes it's an absolute riot!
But you do need to keep awake! The car tramlines, and lifting off mid corner is a no no, (think old skool 911). Also be careful under braking as braking too hard and too late can send the back out! Also be careful in the wet, the Bridgestone's that come as standard are useless in anything other than bone dry conditions. But don't let this put you off, learn to treat the car with respect, and it will reward like no other!
Let's be honest, if your going to buy a car like this, you're not going to be concerned with comfort, fuel economy etc, but here it goes.
If you're going to be using the v-tec constantly, don't expect to see much more than 200 miles from and £45 fill up of Optimax. (BTW don't bother running the car on 95 ron, it give you even less mpg), driving sensibly you can get around 300-350 miles.
The car is comfortable the seats are very supportive, but after a long motorway drive you do grow tiresome of the road noise.
Standard equipment, errrmmmm well it has a steering wheel! This is not a car for gadget freaks, sure it has electric windows, mirrors and a CD player, but then what car doesn’t these days? I feel Honda should have included air-con as standard.
Inside the interior is very user friendly and well put together, but as in all Japanese cars, the plastics used are pretty cheap and nasty.
I can't comment on the dealers as I've only had the car 3 months.
Overall this car is fantastic! Buy one you won't regret it!
