2001 Honda Civic review from UK and Ireland
"Love it!!!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Erm I have no idea.
General comments?
Well, firstly I do have to point out that I do not actually own this car. It belongs to my boyfriend, who drives it around like a bit of a nutter. Anyway, in my humble opinion as a female passenger...
I like this car. It is black. Which to be honest, is probably the sexiest colour a car can be. Yes, it really is! Especially a sporty car like this - which looks very modest on the outside (and in black is not attention seeking), but has lots of power and makes a really cool noise! Sort of BRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM... although obviously a lot louder.
The colour and noise aside, this car is really fun to be in as a passenger, and probably even more fun to drive. Even when thrown around really tight corners at rather alarming speeds it grips the road firmly and securely. Apart from one roundabout my boyfriend delights in racing around - which for some reason causes the back to swing
out and me to require a knicker change. Apart from that though, excellent!
The seats are quite comfortable, although on lengthy journeys I do tend to get bum ache. But there is lots of leg space, in the front and back. Although I do rarely travel in the back, as that space is usually reserved for his smelly friends. But they don't tend to moan about how squashed their legs are, even though I have the chair back, so it can't be that bad.
The interior of the car is simple. There are no fancy gadgets or accessories. Apparently this is because this model is intended for racing, hence it must be kept light with no unnecessary additional weight. But this is nice. It is sleek and minimalist. The modest and understated interior/exterior perfectly complements the power of the car - and it is precisely due to this genuine quality that the vehicle requires nothing else to impress. It does not need to be adorned with anything showy or pretentious to get its point across. It may look unassuming, but this thing has power and bite!
The only complaint I really have about this car is how squeaky the brakes get! Now, this might just be specific to my boyfriends car, because he does do an awful lot of LATE, HARD breaking, but all the same it is bloody annoying. But, having said that, at least I know when he has come to pick me up from my house without looking outside, as I can hear the screech a mile off. However, this is not a huge issue and is easily fixed I'm sure.
DO buy this car if you want a fast ride, something to throw around and have fun with, and which looks quietly cool and sexy, but has an undercurrent of danger... (think James Dean smoking a cigarette).
DON'T buy this car if you are attention seeking, blatantly on the pull, a chav, or want a flashy motor 'cos its well cool, innit'. (Think Peter and Jordan).
One very last thing. This car does have one gadget. Now, not being a car owner (or even a licence owner), having the faintest idea about cars and perhaps most importantly, being a female, this could be something which each and every car on the road possesses. But it impressed and delighted me no end.
On the Honda Civic, when the windscreen wipers are switched on and the car is put in reverse... The back windscreen wipers come on automatically!! Amazing. As I think you will agree.
