2006 Honda Civic LX from North America - Comments

"Yo"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Chatter when driving over pot holes.

General comments?

Great car. Like the way it handles. Definitely not a cadi or bimmer or Jag. Infact it's a "notsosimplesmallcar". The dash is great especially at night. My friends like it. I have a blue glowing air freshener which adds to the effect.

Like the revving of the engine.

Uuuuuuuuuuu ---- uuuuuuuuuuuuu (manual).

Engine appears to be getting quieter after driving for 10 - 15 miles.

Everything is good except for nasty chatter that is caused (from 2 places) when I drive over pot holes. Went to dealer twice and second time the dealer added a comment saying "Too difficult to trace. Asked the customer to monitor and report if severity increases". Nasty solution. But have to accept.

Sounds like a cop-out from one lazy service department to me.

And you don't have to accept it - complain until they fix it.

Hi, yea I have a 2006 civic ex with that same problem. I hear a chatter from the front passanger side of the car everytime I go over certian kinds of potholes... it annoys the hell out of me. I have to take it into the dealer and see if they can fix it.

Well guys, went to the dealer again now a diff one. They just couldn't trace the problem. They spent time on it, but just couldn't fix it. The mechanic did ride with me and said this might be because Honda has changed the shocks tech for civic 06. When I asked in that case shouldn't the sound be coming out of all 4 sides and why just front right side, he could not answer, but he did assure that things are good and asked me to get back if things get worse. I plan on giving up. I have been to dealer three times for chatter. In case something happened and am not covered (vehicle) since I have sufficient proof that its not cause of my negligence, I can as well sue someone.

Why are people willing to accept these excuses? because it's a Honda. If it were a North American car it would be called crap, a waste etc... You paid good money you deserve a good car and excellent service. I hope you get it. I have been reading up on Honda reviews since I am in the market to replace my current vehicle, which I have been extremely happy with, and I would be so lucky to have the next car be half as good. It's just not practical for me to be riding around in such a big car, when 90% of the time I am alone.

Not sure about Honda's or domestics any more to say the least, the opinions here all seem too bias. The owners of Japanese cars seem all too willing to put up with the short comings or issues of their vehicles and the owners of domestics say they will never buy another because of similar issues. Dealers and service departments need to put their priorities back into keeping the customers happy.

Umm no, the domestic owners are tired of replacing computers, engines, transmissions, doors, trunk lids, and not adding on how crapily the car is built. I used to own GM and I am tired of my car wallowing on its chassis all day long while it needs to be towed every other week, Used to be a GM family--had a family member in high rank at the General... no longer will I put up with this so now I drive Honda. my family in California drives Toyota now as well because we are fed up with designs that can potentially kill passengers.. ie chevy venture being in a head on collision or replacing bad parts with more defective parts. The 1998-2002 V6 Accord was cursed with the delphi built alternator failing often. That is the only Delphi part in the Honda... now can you explain when you have a whole GM car or Ford built out of Delphi electronic parts what its reliability will be?

Yeah, people are fed up with crappy domestic quality and in their desperation are willing to accept EVERYTHING from the imports. But Honda or Toyota are not perfect either and idealizing them can only make them arrogant and increase their profits. We, as consumers need to judge the cars for what they are and demand better quality and get rid of this 'import can do no wrong' attitude.
