1998 Honda Civic SE 5dr review from UK and Ireland
"This car has done exactly what I wanted it to do"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I've had several bulbs, but I do run with the lights on a lot. The rear suspension bushes were replaced 4 years ago. It's had an exhaust system and the air conditioning needs a little gas.
General comments?
This car has exceeded my expectations for reliablity. Miles and miles more durable than the MKII Golf it replaced. It's only burnt 400ml of oil in four years and nearly 50k miles of at times hard driving.
It is slower than I would have liked, but you don't buy a 1.4 litre 89hp car for the thrills. Looking back I should have bought the 1.6. Having said that, it keeps up with the flow in lane 3 on our motorway network.
It has no rust, the original battery, still shines after a wash, always starts and everything and I mean every thing still works.
The dealers are great, expensive, but there is no problems booking the car in, the work is always done properly, the car comes home clean, and nice shiney loan cars are avaliable. nice.
I will definately buy another Honda, but hopefully she will serve me for another year or 5! Type S or an 06 model 1.8 next please!!
