2002 Honda CR-V LX review from North America

Driver door "key cylinder" faulty around 68,000. You have to work it to open the car. Not that big of a deal to me.

Plastic interior is cheap feeling, cracked in the trunk area when my wife dropped some furniture on it. I would crack too if she dropped that heavy edge on me!

SRS light came on for no reason. I just need to take it in to have it turned off.

Check engine light comes on maybe once every 9 months for about a day then goes off again. Seems to happen on other Honda models. I think they just want you to take it into the Honda dealer and make him a little extra cash.

Interior is a little loud.

My wife and I love this car. The best gas mileage we have managed to get out of it was around 29 mpg (and that was going through the Ozark mountains!). We just put a hitch on it to tow a smaller boat we bought.

It has enough pickup for me and is a joy to drive. We are big Honda/Toyota/Nissan fans, and this one fits right in with our expectations of a good automobile.

I really don't know what all these other people are so mad about. Does seem a little weird that everyone outside the US had excellent things to say, and the Americans didn't like it. If you want something with more power, a heavier gas-guzzling rock crawler that will last about 50,000 miles, buy an American car. If you want reliability and a quality built automobile at a reasonable price- buy something with a Japanese name on it (excluding Mitzubishi). Most Hondas/Toyotas/Nissans are manufactured here anyway.
