2002 Honda CR-V LX review from North America
"Fairly reliable so far :o)"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
A majority of the issues have been typical maintenance. In the last month, however, I've been hearing a strange sound emanating from the AC. I did some research and found this is a common problem for this year of CR-V. I took car to garage today and they said the compressor is going out == 1500.00 price tag was quoted :o/ I contacted the Honda dealership and they said it pretty much has to seize before they will deal with it.
Another problem is that the back brakes are making this weird harmonic humming when I make a sharp turn, this apparently is because of the rear rotors being unbalanced?
Finally, I thought anyone with a no-start issue... or intermittent start issue could benefit from the following 411. I had the same problem with my Saturn and it was a CRANK-SHAFT sensor. It took them forever to find it because when they would do the no-start diagnostic, the car would start. Good luck.
General comments?
Overall, the 2002 CR-V's been a good car so far. The driver seat is a bit wobbly. Research has shown this to be a known recall issue. It was assembled wrong. I'm a bit worried about what's to come, but on the whole it's been a decent car -- of course, I'm only at 56,000 miles.
