1985 Honda CRX Si review from Australia and New Zealand
"Fast, but just not quite the same as a V8 Holden or Ford"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Served an elderly lady for over 20 years without many problems, and has in the last few years been thrashed by young teenagers on the race track!
Killed the motor, clutch (for sitting around for 6 months, believe this is a common problem with Hondas).
Also killed the gearbox and was a nightmare finding parts in New Zealand.
C.V joints almost dead.
Speedo gave up around 248,000.
But what do you expect for its age and mileage.
General comments?
What a car! 0 to 100 kms in just 8.9 seconds (.3 of a second slower than a Holden Commodore), enough for this car to have taken two different young Junior Dirt Track Drivers too many podium wins, including 2007 No. 2 Junior Driver and 2009 No. 2 Junior Driver. Leaves the other makes of race cars for dead.
Does chew through the fuel 50lts/100km (who said small cars are cheap to run!!) but OK we are racing under controlled conditions so that might explain it.
This car is the ideal dirt track car; it is light and fast. Only gripe about it is that the age of the vehicle is making it hard to get parts for.
Jeremy Clarkson owned one of these, so it must be cool.
