1991 Honda CRX 1.6i-16 from UK and Ireland - Comments

"Head turning, lady pleasing, friend impressing rocket car :)"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

After two years of ownership on a 5 mile island, the sea air has taken its toll on the sunroof (nowhere else though).

I am currently on my third gearbox! The original one was starting to go and I took the risk of buying a second hand one... That one blew up a year later!

Other than that she's fit and healthy.

General comments?

A fantastic car built around its engine, which begs to be driven hard!

The power and acceleration from a seemingly small 1.6 Litre engine will defy anybodys belief...

Handling that will embarrass pretty much every other car through nice, twisty roads!

My CRX is the UK spec 1.6i-16v model which produces 135 bhp.

One stainless steel exhaust and K&N air filter later, she makes around 150 bhp and is a worthy rival to the VTECs as she's 160 KG or so lighter!

0-60 unofficially timed with a stop watch at 7.1 seconds.

Good for 140mph.

Slightly dull, but racy and sleek interior and plenty of room for the front two people with the seats all the way back. Feels much bigger on the inside!

Unless you're sitting in the back... ;)

I am now on the look out for a VTEC to buy, as I just love the sound of an engine that revs to 8000 rpm... mmmm!

My advice? Buy one now and look after it and it'll look after you.
