1990 Honda CRX SiR from Australia and New Zealand - Comments

"When they said good things come in small packages, they were thinking of the CRX"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Only usual maintenance items - cambelt, a CV joint - that occur at the usual age.

General comments?

The SiR is the range-topping Series II CRX. The CRX was the first Honda to be given the VTEC powerplant in 1989. This boosts power in the 1.6l DOHC by 35hp to 160hp. The combination of this power and the lightweight body make it a potent little performer and a worthy competitor to turbo rivals with the added advantage of reliability. Does 0-100kmh in 8 seconds and tweaked models have been known to do over 240kmh. The SiR features larger front brakes, all electrics and aircon. Liberal use of VTEC increases fuel consumption markedly. Boot size is OK, helped by folding rear bench seat which is only really useful for children or storage space. All CRXs in NZ are imported 2nd hand from Japan.

It's a great little car, but its not the first Honda with that V-Tec Motor, it was in fact the Integra xsi as its known in Japan.
