1988 Honda CRX review from Australia and New Zealand
"Invincible"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Brakes were faulty. Required new disc brakes and pads etc.
Brake hoses were perished as well.
Needed all new valves, spark plugs, filter etc.
My radiator needed the seals replaced.
The temperature gage needed fixing.
Saggy boot struts.
C.V joints needed replacing.
Out of focus headlamp needed to be repaired.
General comments?
This car is a fun wee car that I have become very attached to.
I think it is more suitable for driving alone or with a friend, but I am cautious about carrying backseat passengers because of the dodgy amount of room there. I don't think it is very safe.
This car is cheap to run, lots of km's for small amounts of petrol. Great reserve tank! I can run on empty for a few days and it never conks out (lucky).
I love the power that the car has for it's small size. Going up hills especially is fun and of little effort for the CRX.
Overall, honda cars are low maintenance and cheap cars to run once the car is running smoothly once the car is in good nick.
The only disadvantage of this car is that it is sporty and it does have a "reputation" for being associated with boyracers. My car was stolen last year by a group of thugs who were envious that I had such a fast, red car. My car is safe back with me now and I drive her daily, which is always a treat.
