What things have gone wrong with the car?
Dealer stripped thread on sump plug during service& didn't notice until I told them; then they charged me for repairing the sump thread insert : (
We bought it 2nd hand & we spent a bit of money on the first service making sure all was OK. Only issue was rear suspension rubber mount which previous owner had replaced with non-OEM part & this was replaced.
General comments?
This was my wifes choice because as we mature (?!) into our 50s we have found we need a second car for all our activities we can finally now afford to do as our dependents have (almost totally) left home.
She really wanted the sporty convertible look & the Transtop was a bonus because I didn't want a ragtop; this steel electric roof is now a much copied look. I was really pleased with the handling & the performance was a revelation; this was the first VTEC car I had driven.
This is the Japanese model with 170bhp & extremely quick as well as surprisingly economical. All is std. but I have detailed a few engine bits such as ngk plug leads/iridium plugs & added a pod air filter (cheaper than buying a std. cartrridge) & ss headers. I also replaced the previous owners boombox with a std. Honda Pioneer cassette deck from a wrecker for $20.
The handling around town is a bit truck-ish with low profile tyres, but above 70kmh on the open road the car is running on rails; the only car I have driven that matches it for handling feel is a BMW 328 or maybe the old Jag XJ6 4.2 (some of us have very long memories).
And a very decent sized boot as well.
