1993 Honda del Sol S from North America - Comments

"This car is fun to drive, economical, and very reliable."

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The only thing that I have replaced so far is the distributor cap. That's the only thing that I ever replaced on my Civic as well and it is around 4 or 5 hundred dollars.

The roof rattle is annoying, though. I just have to turn up the radio.

General comments?

I love this car. When I was in college I saved lots of money on gas going to and from home. It gets nearly 40 mpg and that is helpful with gas being around $1.50 a gallon. Now that I have graduated and it is paid off I plan to keep it for a long time.

It turns lots of heads!

I have recently bought a Del sol and the distributor went as well at a cost of £390 which is around the 500 dollar mark. A bit of a shocker considering I was having other niggly things fixed like a bent aerial, blown fuses and a full service. All that aside its a fantastic car, goes like a dream, is very fuel efficient, doesn't leak that much considering the rain we get in England. On the hot days (and we do get them... Global warming) its great to be able to lift the roof off. Being a hard top it also adds that extra bit of security.

If you get the chance... buy one!

I find it extremely astonishing and extraordinary that either the original poster, or the added comment poster, would have had to pay anywhere near $500.00 for a distributor cap for the Honda Civic del sol S (1.5 liter) or any other version (Si or V-Tech).

Although I realize that many of the parts available for this automobile (S, Si and V-Tech) are often somewhat unreasonable; I also realize that there are after-market suppliers that can allow an owner of such cars to purchase replacement parts for much less than posted in this article.

I utilize a Honda dealer for my parts and I know what the costs are and how to obtain them through him without having to pay the retail price.

And even if I had to utilize the standard Honda parts and service system I know that a distributor cap will not cost as much as related in this article.

However, if you are talking about the actual "distributor" as well as the distributor cap that might be somewhat more understandable.

Still, even if what is being related is with regard to the actual "distributor" as opposed to a "distributor cap" I find the cost to be exceedingly high.

Most Sincerely.

Svelte Bat (name of my del sol)
