1992 Honda del Sol Sir review from UK and Ireland
"Not the car I was hoping for"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I have come to realise that the car is useless at stopping on a wet or greasy road. No matter how I try to brake, all wheels lock and I go into a skid.
The electric roof rattles like crazy.
The boot leaks.
The roof leaks to the extent that in a recent storm, the drivers' seat was soaked through in the morning. Normally, I just get a few drips in.
The flimsy material on the drivers seat became very worn and torn very quickly.
The hub assembly on both the back wheels has had to be totally replaced at high cost because it is apparently not possible to just replace worn wheel bearings.
General comments?
I bought my DOHC 1.6 VTEC Sir Honda del-sol 3 years ago as a Japanese import.
Quite frankly, it is the worst car I have ever owned.
OK, it has brilliant performance (but not as good as my old Mk1 Toyota MR2) but the problems I have had with it far outweigh the performance.
I would have to take too much of a loss on the car if I sold it, but I wish I had never parted with my MR2.
