The front brake pads were replaced and the rotors resurfaced (16000mi).
The wipers have been chattering since car was new.
A "panel pin" one of several that holds the inner cover on the rear hatch fell out.
Tires have lasted on 16000mi.
My major complaint about the car is the poor ergonomics for the driver. I am 6ft and after driving the car for 20-30 min the heel of my foot starts to hurt. The gas pedal required me to keep my foot at a "funny" angle fatiguing my foot after 30-40 min of driving. Several of my friends have driven the car and those taller than 5'11'' have the same opinion.
The rear hatch needs to have latch release near the driver and the hatch should lock when closed. (If you open the hatch after locking the doors you have to lock the hatch with the key).
The radio gets poor reception. I have also heard this complaint from other fit owners. Also the radio has a nonstandard opening so you can buy a replacement radio without replacing the radio "dash".
The speakers are poorly placed and its hard to adjust the radio to get a good balance of sound in the car.
The clock and any of the information being displayed in the radios readout gets washed out in the sun making it all, but impossible to see.
The gas in the gas tank makes a sloshing sound when you stop quickly.
The carpets are cheap. Wear spots are already showing.
The front pillars are to thick an block my view.
When looking in the review mirror your view seems distorted as if the mirror or rear glass is bent.
The rear head-rests block the drivers rear view.
I must contradict the title of the review--this car is good for a lot of people over 5'10". I am 6'2" and legroom is enough--though just barely. I have found I need to sit more upright than I did in my previous car (a Volvo 850 with utterly phenomenal seats) but I can sit comfortably and have taken multi-hour drives in my Fit with no trouble.
The multitude of negatives listed by the reviewer make it clear that extended test drives are essential before buying a new car. I have the Sport MT model, which addresses some of the issues the reviewer has (stereo, rear hatch lock) but I do not have any of the mentioned problems except the sloshing gas tank, which isn't a big deal. Visibility, while not great, is better than most new cars with their super-thick pillars and high beltline.
I hope the reviewer does not regret the purchase of the car; I am very happy with mine with only a few small complaints. There are many, many positives which remind me why I bought the car in the first place. I hope the reviewer has found things to like about it too.
I am 5'-11" and have the same problem with the gas pedal angle, making long drives uncomfortable. I've seen this issue mentioned again and again on forums. Anyone heard of a fix?
There are no "standard" fixes for the gas pedal. But one can help by increasing the seat recline. Also, I did remove the pedal assembly and cut the pedal in half. No joke, it works.
