2004 Honda Jazz S review from UK and Ireland
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Passenger side inner sill/footwell plastic trim tends to work loose-needs to be clipped back fairly regularly.
Car needed new front brake pads at 25000 mile service.
Required two new front tyres at 14000 miles due to wear and replaced all four tyres at 30000 miles (not worn, but two were damaged and I got a good deal on four.)
Fabric on driver seat bolster showing some wear i. e twill unpicked in a few places.
General comments?
The car was purchased at 9 months old from a main dealer,it was an ex-hire car so didnt fit the usual Jazz owner profile. The car has proved to be trouble free despite this and hard family use.Trim is holding up pretty well, despite the best efforts of three kids. Fuel consumption varies from 38MPG on short stop/start winter school runs to 53 MPG on motorway trips. The car is genuinely cheap to run.
However (as with any supermini I suppose ) the car is too small for my family of effectively of three adults and two children,in particular the child seat steals shoulder room in the back and makes long journeys uncomfortable with all five family members on board-luggage space is however very good considering.
Since 98% of the time the car is used for for short local runs and shopping trips , passenger space is only an occassional issue .
I will probably change the car next year when it hits three years old and will consider another Jazz (an SE) or a perhaps trade up to a New look Civic, FRV or Corolla Verso. Either way I should be able to look forward to a healthy trade in/resale value for the jazz enabling me to keep my options open.
All in all Im happy with my choice of car.
