1991 Honda Legend review from Australia and New Zealand
"Superb.. as good as any European; I have just replaced it with a later 3.5L Legend"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Alternator failed at 210,000KM.
Both CV boots replaced.
Steering ball joint replaced at 230,000Kms.
General comments?
This is a seriously good car with incredible build quality. I am a company rep. & appearance is important... this car looks & drives just as good as on the day I bought it 5 years & 200,000 Kms ago.
Superb engine, auto transmission a bit snatchy when driven hard, quiet, superb sound system, a bit hard-riding compared to the Citroen, but improved by replacing original Jap tyres with Dunlop Monza's... & it doesn't rattle & make clunking noises that were a feature of the Citroen.
This car has given me 5 years of trouble free, high-mileage motoring. Only problems were an alternator failure & a persistent rattle behind the dashboard that took me 18 months to trace. Being an engineer, I am paranoid about rattles & that's why I dumped the BX after a relatively short period & after many years of motoring in various Citroens (they never made a model to match the DS).
The Legend rattle turned out to be a broken panel clip & further investigation leads me to believe that the car was probably clocked before I bought it so the odometer reading might be conservative.
