2001 Honda Odyssey EX review from North America
"Well built and reliable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
EGR valve clogged
Fan speed selector knob broke (free-wheeled)
Rubber strips dropped down from read hatch "cover" -- dealer replaced entire cover.
Front motor mount replaced under extended warranty at 85,000 miles. Dealer explained this as the cause of "rough" shifting.
Left rear sliding door light switch works intermittently.
Rough idle--Fuel injection system cleaned.
Accelerator a little sticky.
Transmission has made a whining sound from about 10-50mph sometime after the first year of ownership. Technician test drove van with me and he would put transmission in neutral around 35-40 and sound would disappear. He could swap the transmission, but that would not guarantee the sound would go away. I wanted to know if the sound was indicative of immanent transmission failure. He did not say it was. I declined to change the transmission at this time.
General comments?
I've enjoyed using the van these past seven years. No really significant problems.
