2001 Honda Odyssey review from North America
"Bad transmission for the used Oddy"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
We've had the van for 20,000 miles; bought it used at 130,000 miles because it was a Honda, which is known for its reliability. What a joke!
The TCS light and the check engine light came on, and they told me that it was a faulty torque converter, the O2 sensor and the catalytic converter needed replaced, as well as a NEW TRANSMISSION!!! I contacted Honda, but since my car is out of warranty, the only thing they can do is offer 25% off a new transmission, which runs between $4500 and $6000 for the Odyssey (according to Honda -- even though an independent shop offered me a rebuilt transmission for about $3000...). That's too much money for a car, which according to KBB is now worth only between $4100 and $6000.
I will never buy another Honda van, even though I truly love the car. I bought a Toyota already, and will drive the Oddy until it falls apart, since I cannot sell it to anyone in good conscience.
