This van was a nightmare from the get go. After only 6 months of ownership the engine went.
Fuel smell, belt slips on AC occasionally which is embarrassing at times - usually I just laugh about it.
Thank God for warranties!! Dealership screwed me on purchase price. What a mistake buying this van.
These vans are great to look at, but that's about it.
My 2001 Van experience has been excellent. No Problems
Second year in Feb. and Have 32,000 miles with no
problems. That person who is complaining must have a lemon
and built on a Monday. I would recommend this Van to
all.
I have a bought a Honda Odyssey EX-L RES in Boch Honda. Total price was 32,365 with fog lights and cross bars. Now has 1613 miles on it. I haven't experienced any problems and the fuel mileage is great. What is that person talking about, engine went out? That's crazy. I had a Honda Civic with 210,000 miles on it and it still was in great condition. I would always drive a Honda.
Our 1999 Odyssey has 85,000 miles and no major problems, but a LOT of little niggling problems. The van is noisy, controls are poorly designed, and there are many clunking noises from the brakes, transmission, and A/C that feel like they're on their way out. Also fuel economy is poor - overall overage has been around 20 with many fill-ups in the upper teens - yuck! All from a VTEC engine that is underpowered at low RPM (yes, it has good high-RPM power, but SO WHAT on a minivan - poor engine choice here and it's noisy - sewing machine noisy). I've had 4 Toyotas previously (still have 2), all with well over 100,000 (one over 200,000 now) and NO problems. Toyotas are much better designed, easier to work on, less expensive parts, better fuel economy, smoother/more tractable engines, and better handling/quieter to drive. This is my first and last Honda - I don't get what people like so much about Hondas - maybe they've never owned another Japanese brand???
I bought my 2002 EX-L for Honda Quality and paid more than I should (My problem) have.
Never towed. My tranny just went out at 35,000. They are covering it.
Wonder what the next warranty will be?
