2000 Honda Passport EX review from North America

Since it was new car it would use up 1 1/8 quarts of oil in 3000 miles. Not because of a leak or obvious burning of oil. Service techs say it is normal.

Every 40,000 miles the lower intake gasket blows. I am now on my third one.

In cold weather engine will stall for no apparent reason. It has done this since it was new. Service tech cannot find problem because there is no error code recorded in the computer.

Have had to replace two very expensive altenators. Between $400 & $700. Again, I am on my third one.

Poor quality brake rotors need replacing every time the brakes are changed. A very costly and time consuming process as the front hubs have to be completely dismantled and pressed back together again just to replace the front two rotors.

Car squeaks every time it hits a small crack or bump in the road. It is something with the suspension and have been told there is nothing they can do about it.

Should have bought a real Honda. Not something that was thrown together out of a GM & Isuzu parts bin.

Someone has mentioned that to get good service you need to go to an Isuzu dealer. Has anyone seen one of these in the last two years? I haven't.

Car handles great off road if you can get past the annoying squeaking noise from the suspension.

Parts for this car are rather expensive and seem to need to be replaced often. You would think for something that is mostly GM parts that parts would be a little less expensive.

If I hadn't spent all my money fixing this piece of junk I would buy A real Honda. What a money pit this car has been.
