1986 Honda Prelude review from Australia and New Zealand
"Fast, handsome, but EXPENSIVE to maintain"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
EVERYTHING!
I purchased the car at 210,000 and have not thrashed it, and to this day have spent close to 10k on it. I purchased it for 3k AUD, and 3 months later needed to re condition my alternator after 3 break downs. Then a timing belt snapped, and finally the killer, I blew the head and the radiator formed a crack in it.
General comments?
Although all these things went wrong.. the car has its definite strong points. it is a fast 4, and for its age, it does kill other cars in its weight class.
I have fitted custom extractors, and it sounds like it's ready for the dirt track!
In the way of comfort, it is fantastic; the stock bucket seats hug the body and provide great lumbar support.
It has been good to me, and for that I thank it, but I am now ready to move on and leave the Prelude behind.
