1998 Honda Prelude base review from North America
"My 'lude will give you a run for your money"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The passenger power window goes down, but not up, so the driver has to control everything.
When parked overnight it makes a weird noise when started; I expect a trip to the shop soon.
The shifter boot was broken off the knob.
General comments?
To sum this review early, this car kicks ass. It has so much power compared to my last Honda. I gained a good 100+ Horse Power.
I read the other Prelude reviews, and the owners say that the engine really kicks in around 5500 RPM, I guess. But I feel a good change in torque at 5000.
I bought this car used from the lot that I purchased my Civic at, so they were pretty honest. The Prelude was in an accident, and needed a new fender, hood, and paint job. So I bought it at about $6,300 and a $1,700 trade in with my Jeep.
I'm glad I bought the 1998 Honda Prelude at the car lot instead of the 2000. They both were in accidents, but the '98 was rebuilt better, and had a better paint job.
Anyway, I totally recommend a Prelude to ANYBODY. They're fast, reliable, and just plain sexy.
