"One of the best cars I have ever owned"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Clutch replaced at 249,000km.

Upper control arm bushings at 240,000 (front passenger side)

Constant Velocity joint at 277,000km.

Painted roof at 285,000km.

General comments?

The car handles beautifully (Michelin XGTH4-205 60 14)

The car's design still looks modern.

The driver's seat gets a little uncomfortable on long drives.

I purchased a "leftover" 1988 Honda Prelude Si in May 1989 and recently retired it in February 2004. It had 275,475 miles on it, the interior was near perfect, but although the body was beginning to rust in places repairs had already been done, but everything else still worked fine... except the clutch. That is why I had to retire my "bumblebee" (it was yellow!) Unfortunately, I couldn't justify spending almost $900 on a clutch when the whole cars value was just about that.

That drivers seat is what I miss the most - I purchased a 2004 Civic EX, but this seat just doesn't begin to compare to my Preludes seat with lumbar support. I miss that seat so much that I'm in search of a drivers seat for a 1988 Prelude to possibly have installed in my Civic. I'm sorry you find it uncomfortable on long drives - I found it incredibly comfortable. I drove that car from CT to Canada, CT to FL, CT to PA and CT to NC on several occasions. I loved that car!

Has any one had any problems with the carburettor version of the 1988 Prelude running very rich and subsequently having extremely poor fuel mileage and poor running?
