1988 Honda Prelude 4WS Si review from Australia and New Zealand
"A slick little slotcar"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Only had it a few days, no problems.
General comments?
The handling at low speeds is exceptional, mainly due to the 4WS.
Handling at high speeds is above average.
Finish is excellent. Honda's experience making longlasting plastic bits for motorcycles shows through.
Performance is good for a 2 litre. Not much torque under 3000rpms, but what do you expect?
Well-designed in a computerish sort of way. Not like old British cars which were 'manually designed' and feel more like mechanical creatures than machines (I'm a former Austin Healey owner...).
Too bad it hasn't got more poke, but I think the handling makes up in some way.
Looks good, and has aged well.
I bought my car from a 75 year old lady neighbour, who said she had never exceeded the speed limit in it (I'll soon fix that, I thought).
I haven't cleaned the Holden utility once since I bought it, but I feel that I should keep this one looking nice.
A good car, but no wonder they designed the VTEC engine - they needed low rev torque.
