1983 Honda Prelude review from North America
"Great fun driver at 17 years and 85,000 miles.."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Air compressor out @ 45,000 mi.
Timing belt sheared @ 30,000 mi.
Brakes rebuilt @ 45,000 mi.
Brake master cylinder leaking.
Carburettors need rebuilt.
Radio not working... buzzes.
Red paint in good condition!
General comments?
* This car has the original Honda alum. mag wheels... rare.
* Great fun to drive in the mountains on winding roads
* 5-speed great... pass on the automatic!
* Likes to run between 3,000 to 5,000 rpm's.
* 35 mpg in the mountains on 89 octane.
* Great large opening moonroof!
* Top speed ~ 105 mph in 4th gear... level road.
* No rear trunk badge on this first year model.
* Manual steering on this first year model.
* Never been smogged in california ????
Did they miss something here ??!
This car is still a blast to drive on curvey winding roads; will really go thru the gears; 5-speed tranny excellent; engine responsive above ~3,500 rpm. Great retro styling; hope it holds up... but apparently it will never be a classic, so I will keep it and maybe shoe-horn in a 289 CID Ford engine for some real fun someday...!!!
