1985 Honda Prelude 2.0 Si review from East Timor

"The Prelude is a bit of everything-poor build quality and sluggishness, but also cool styling"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The battery went flat when the car was out of use for a long period of time.

The seats wore out, but not too much.

The bearings of the wheels went rusty.

The body and chassis also went rusty after a while. (Perhaps due to the fact it had to be shipped from Japan over salty water and the salt rusted the metal.)

The tape player/radio of the car did not work after some use.

Engine smoke has been a problem at higher speeds and rpm's with the interior smelling like gas when the car hit higher speeds.

Because of body rust, the interior becomes moist and mould grows on the seats and interior walls. A yucky smell results from the moist velvet seats.

General comments?

The car is well-designed with its retro 80's sports coupe shape and is very ''cool''.

However the suspension and bodywork has rusted and this has caused rainwater to leak into the interior every time there's a rainstorm. (I don't have a garage so the car sits in a car park.)

The velvet seats are pretty okay in terms of comfort, but are hard on longer journeys.

The radio/tape player (when it worked) sounded great. (It's an Alpine sound system).

The car's engine is problem-free and never fails. It offers lots of power at only 2000cc.

The acceleration is not too great, as you have to push down on the accelerator to even have the odometer hit 60km/h. For 196hp it's not very fast to accelerate and even after acceleration is not particularly quick.
