1996 Honda Prelude VTEC review from UK and Ireland
"Engineering at its finest"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
All that has "gone wrong" are a new set of tyres, which I replaced with 17s, and a set of front brake dics.
General comments?
Well, I have the face-lifted Prelude which is one of the very last of the 91-96 shape. It is in Milano red, with the Honda bodykit. It looks absolutely stunning even in todays modern world. Inside it has the facelift all digital dash (so now the speedo is digital as well) and black unmarked leather. The dash is very cool as it sort of wraps around you when you are sitting in it, bit like a TVR. Driving around town it is as light as a feather, nice easy clutch and steering. When you test the performance, it is fairly amazing. 5,500rpm is when VTEC kicks in, and it feels like a turbo. 4WS gets some funny looks as the rear wheels turn, but makes parking and low speed manouvers a doddle. Overall, a head turning very quick coupe.
P.S don't buy if you want any sort of practicality. It really is a proper coupe!!!
