2002 Honda S2000 review from North America
"Great roadster with superb handling"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Transmission suffers from common problem of gear grinding from 1st to 2nd. Problem can be alleviated by not shifting so fast - give time for synchros to engage. Problem goes away, although shifting is slightly slower.
Little squeaks and rattles here and there throughout car interior due to stiff suspension setup.
General comments?
Wonderful car. Excellent handling. Definitely worth owning, despite inherint drawbacks of a roadster - small trunk, room for 2, semi loud even with top down. Short throw transmission is a pleasure to use, except for known gear grinding problem seen on several cars. Power band is fairly narrow and only really useful in VTEC range (6-9k). Pretty good brakes. Car looks great, even though similarities with a Maita. Front lip of car is very low, scrapes often on curbs. Power top goes down and up in about 5 seconds - extremely fast (requires manual (un) locking of top). Windshield and paint job are fairly weak - will chip easily (being so low to ground doesn't help). Easy to work on car.
