2000 Hyundai Accent Hatchback review from North America
"You get what you pay for"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
From the day I took it off the lot the driver's side window has been tough
to open. It's not too crash-worthy: When I got into a small accident it cost well over $2,000 to fix this $7,500 car. The brakes stink compared with
every other car I've driven in 30 years. It barely operates in the tiniest
bit of snow. The 5-speed car has aways make kind of funny noises when shifting -- it's not smooth like most other manual transmission cars.
The engine light has gone off & on, practically since I bought it. The dealer tried to charge me $85 to "diagnose" the ill-designed problem: apparently when the gas cap isn't on tight (and God knows when else), it
makes the engine light go on. But the biggest problem sparked this e-complaint. Today, at only 47,000 miles, the clutch or the transmission totally blew. And that, apparently isn't covered by Hyundai's so-called
wonderful warranty. Has anyone else had problems with the clutch or
transmission?
General comments?
See above. I'd never buy a Hyundai again.
