I bought a 2001 Hyundai Accent in January 2010 from a used car dealership for 7,500. Beautiful condition inside and out.

Unfortunately, I have had the same problem with the idling/revving going up and down, and the car accelerating on its own quite suddenly. When I am sitting at a light, I can hear the revving go up, and when I put it in park, it is very loud, the only way to stop it is to tap the accelerator and that seems to bring it down.

After weeks of trying to find out the problem, Hyundai say it is the speed sensor that needs to be replaced, but get this... I have to wait a week for a booking and the part. I just hope I don't damage the car anymore by driving it like it is.

I do have full insurance in case of an accident, but I had it inspected by the RACV for $230 and they never even noticed it.

Please be careful if buying this car, it's not worth it. Plus it's noisy to drive compared to a lot of other cars. And the seats are not that comfortable.

I owned a Toyota Corolla before this and I miss it a lot. My dad bought the Hyundai for me without even asking. I definitely would not have chosen it or paid more than 4,000. LOL, oh well, I am still grateful :)
