2001 Hyundai Elantra VE review from North America
"Cheap"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I believe something is wrong with the wiring. The parking lights are always on, even with the switch off. Also, the left brake light does not turn on, and the bulb is fine. I have noticed this on many other Hyundai Elantra's of the same model.
I just noticed a few weeks ago there is a power steering leak.
The auto tranny seems to be slipping or really delayed in shifts. If it doesn't delay, it slamms into gear.
It is already rusting and it is an 01.
General comments?
I don't know why, but this is the slowest car I have ever drivin. The car is my girlfriends, but being the car buff I am I take care of it. I have drivin many 4cyl before and this one is extremely slow. The paint chips extremely easy and the car is rusting. The rust was there when we bought it used but it is spreading. The overall quality sucks on this car, and is nowhere near the condition my 1998 Honda Accord V6 is in, with OVER double the kilometers (216000). The car has wayyyyy to much body roll, as a matter of fact I almost did a 180 coming off a wet ramp the other day, and I was not going that fast. The car does ride okay though, and doesn't look too bad. The quality is cheap, but the car was also low priced. I would never recommend this car to anyone looking to buy cheap used car.
