2001 Hyundai Elantra GLS review from North America
"A nice car for a great price"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
My throwout bearing went at about 40k. Dealer replaced under warranty. They also offered to replace the clutch as long as it was out anyway, for the price of parts (about $125). The old clutch was about 50% worn.
General comments?
I got hit by a Jeep Cherokee on my drivers side about 4 days after I bought the car. He was going about 40. He hit the front side of the drivers door and the front fender. The car was pretty torn up, but my passenger and I were fine and able to drive it home. He just missed the side airbag sensor, fortunately.
It Is a pretty quick car with the 5-speed.
Gas mileage is OK, not great.
I like the interior quality and exterior styling better than competition.
Good factory sound system.
