Is it true that Getz have aircon compressor problems?

Plan to buy, but saw this.

What the hell... That is fuel guzzler...

My girlfriend's Getz 1.1 does 20km/litre (=5 liters per 100km), and that is quite good. I don't find this car fuel guzzler, therefore I think there must be something wrong with yours. Fuel injection maybe?

Regards.

Hi I have just bought a 3month old 1.5 crd cdx+ the 110hp diesel. I am averaging 50mph on the computer- haven't tried on the tank yet. Only 2000 miles old, so maybe it will improve, but it is disappointing. I had a laguna 2.2 disel and most of the time that did nearly 50, in town, ac on, traffic, very high speed- all the same. And when I was really trying I did 57mpg, using 6th and 7th gear. (6th gear is putting it into neutral when coasting down hill. I will leave you to work ou what 7th gear was!.)

But the getz won't coast! Even down quite steep hills it just slows down. And I think that is the problem with mine. I do not know whether it is wind resistance or bad tracking- it is not brakes binding. Does anyone else have problems with the getz having high friction- when you take the power off it slows down much quicker than other cars. My wife's jazz does 55mpg and that is petrol and a much bigger car. Something is wrong- I don't know what. Other than that I like it- build quality is good, it is solid, and quiet and better over bumps than my last car.

You need to freewheel in gear to get the best mpg, if you dip the clutch then the engine uses fuel to keep running, not so if you are in gear, the momentum keeps it turning with much less fuel used.

If by 7th gear, you mean freewheeling with the engine off, then you are putting lives at risk.

PS: There is a lot more to life than mpg!

I do not know that the last comment has much to do with the topic!

However, for those who are interested I have now done some research with my cdx+. The problem with the getz is the wind resistance and so the faster you go the more it uses. Mine has the fuel consumption monitor. Going down a roughly level road one way I got 80 mpg at 50mph. On the way back against the wind at the same speed I was doing 56 mpg. When I turned off up a hill (not very steep) the mpg improved to 60mpg.

The car looks streamlined, but I guess it is not. So you need to keep the speed down if you are driving for economy.

Hi!

I own a 2005 1.3L Getz. For 3 years of service, the fuel consumption of my Getz doesn't change. My FC for my everyday route (20 kms from my house to school and vise versa, with numerous humps and traffic) is 12 kms per liter, whle in highways, I run for about 16 to 18 kms per liter. Our Getz are very pwerful for a 1.3, I can proudly say that because my friend owns a Chevrolet Aveo with a 1.5L engine, he cannot even come close! my tops for my getz is 190 km/h.

More power to us!

Can anyone tell me if they have any experience or have heard of anyone else who had the same problem... I have a getz that is only 5 months old. Last week it seemed like it was stalling, so we took it to the casa, and they said that the fuel pump and the fuel injection and conked out. and the reason they gave was that it had been loaded with contaminated gasoline. (watered down). And that this is what caused the breakdown. They are charging us 18,000 Pesos to change the parts, claiming it is not covered by warranty because it is owner negligence that the gas was contaminated. The thing is other people in my office also load at the same station (office gas vouchers) and none of them had the same experience (they loaded gas the same day I did). So I'm wondering if the reason is really that.

The service people at Hyundai claim the fuel pump of the Getz is very sensitive that even one loading of watered down gas can cause it to break down.

Can anyone refute this?

Thanks!

What hyundai dealer is that? you should tell them that it should cover the warranty, because who in the right mind would intentionally fill their gasoline tank knowing that the gasoline is contaminated. if they still insist that it is the owners fault then tell them that you will ask for the advice of the media. and they will have to talk to the media regarding this matter.

I bought a brand new Getz 1.6AT in April 2006. With regular service and all I thought it will last long. Last week the engine started to vibrate heavily and giving out weird noise so I sent it to a Hyundai Service Center. They couldn't rectify the problem. Fearing for the worse, I sent it to another service center. It turned out to be a broken crank-shaft! Since the warranty was only for 60,000 km, I had to bear the cost for a new crank shaft and it was not even 3 years old!

I have a 2005 Getz. It has a 60k km reading. My car got into an accident and it was stock for 3 months. When the car was already fixed, I had it serviced at the center for the 60 km's service check-up. Now when the car has run for an hour or more, it loses power (stalling). What I do is park it for a while, then drive it again. After a while the stalling comes back. PLEASE HELP.

Hi, I have March 2007 Hyundai Getz 1.3 L, which is driven approx. 48 K till now, it is having a power loss since beginning, on regular visits to Hyundai dealers, they don't know how to deal with such problems, they are just scanner readers, if the scanner says OK, everything is OK, otherwise not.
