2001 Hyundai Sonata 4 door sedan review from North America
"Poor warranty"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The timing belt broke at 41,000, it was replaced by the dealer. When I got the car back a lot of noise was coming from the timing belt area, so I sent my wife back to the dealer with the car. He said nothing was wrong and they all sound like that. The next day I went back with the car and he said maybe the belt was not set right and to leave it. When I picked the car up It did sound better. After the first 500 miles I checked the oil and found it was down a quart. I notified the dealer right away, and he started checking it every 500 also. For some reason this dealer said he never could get a hold of the service rep. This is a long story, but to cut it short, I finally went to another dealer and after another oil consumption test he got the service Rep to put a new head on the car at 53,000, the only thing is it's still burning oil and now I have to go thru another oil
consumption test. Last check it was down 1 Qt in 750 miles when the dealer checked it. Now the sevice rep says this is exceptable. Other than this problem I like the car, but the warranty is not worth the paper they write it on.
