The car had excessive squeaking at 6 months (at about 4000 miles). I've had my brakes changed at 3 times because of the excessive brake squeaking.
Next, I had to replace the transmission at about 38,000 miles.
The check engine light came on so many times.
The car "sputters" when I drive it on... especially when I'm at the stop. Then the check engine light came on again. The car only has 40,000 miles.
All these problems were covered by warranty, but it's such a hassle to take it to the dealer so many times.
I would not recommend a Hyundai.
I Bought a 2001 Hyundai Sonata brand new never been used before. I figured the car would last a long time if you properly took care of it. Boy was I wrong. This car has been nothing, but problems. In the 1st 2 yrs we had the car I can't count how many times the check engine light has come on. We have had everything replaced in this car. It started with replacing an engine coil, then the transmission, catalytic converter, alternator. There is a lot more I know that was replaced, but I didn't want to make this to long. These are major components in a car I can't believe at less than 50,000 miles they would need to be replaced. Now at 61,000 miles we are having major electrical problems. Our headlights and high beams keep blowing out for no reason. It's become a real danger. We are driving along at night on the highway and no warning at all lights gone. No one seems to be able to find the problem. We have had extensive diagnostics run on the car. Unfortunately after 61,000 miles the headlight problem is not covered under warranty anymore. Anyone got any advice for me?? Running out of patience and money! I'm ready to just trade the car in. I will tell you one thing I will never buy a Hyundai again. Thanks, Out of Patience 06!
