2001 Hyundai Tiburon SE review from North America
"A good investment"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Cruise control did not work at all the first time I took it on the highway. It was fixed under warranty.
Have had the car mat 'hook' on the passenger side replaced three times. Covered under warranty.
New transmission put in at 23000km due to a very loud wheezing noise. Covered under warranty.
Currently am dealing with a few marks in the paint on the hood the dealer told me were caused by 'acid rain'. Apparently the clear coat is supposed to prevent this, but my warranty won't cover it since I'm over 20,000km.
General comments?
I love the look and feel of my car, however, have had a fair number of little things go wrong. I was very disappointed and angry finding out I needed a new transmission after owning it just over a year.
I find it very comfortable to drive although getting in and out is difficult.
I do not like the way the seats require you to use both hands when putting them back into position after having them forward. It is very awkward if your passenger gets out and needs to get something out from behind their seat for the driver to reach over and pull the lever and maneuver the seat back up.
Disappointing that the sunroof does not have a pull over that allows brightness in without having it opened (this was improved on the 2003 models).
