Nothing yet.
The car is only 3 weeks old so I haven't had any service done on it yet.
What I can tell you is the car turns heads, mostly with the import car crowd who long to get something like this and the next day be at the accessories store buying a 100 parts to jazz it up.
The head room is minimal and shoulder checking to merge or take the left lane is pretty much left up to the side view mirror.
One car review book said the all black interior was to much and it needed some coloured accents to break up the black, I don't see this problem I like the all black espicially when you get the leather seats like I did.
The roud guages with chrome around the outside add a nice racy touch.
The 2.0 litre 4 cylinder pulls nicely and is compitent to get ya going with smoothness and speed. Handeling is more than adequate with the 17 inch tires.
The buttons for the sunroof and interior lights could have been illuminated, but that is nit picking.
"Welcome to the in crowd" Yeah the "in crowd" in the Hyundai repair shop because its only a matter of time until you'll bring it in for repair just like most Hyundais.
A reply to the comment. Hello, it's not 1987 anymore. I'm on my third Hyundai, and have had a much better ownership experience than the mid-nineties Camry I drove. Unless you actually review cars for a living, educate yourself on the present day world of automobiles first before you come off sounding like a know-it-all.
To the first comment. Well it's 18mos later and the Tiburon is still running like a champ, not one repair. I guess you've had bad luck with Hyundai's' you may have owned and that's too bad. They are really putting some decent quality into 'em now, or I guess your just really misinformed about your facts.
The Hyundai Tiburon is the least reliable car you can buy.
I guest for you Americans 100 000miles is more than what you expect a car to live for, but let me tell you, my friend blew the engine at 10 000kms this was due to leak in the oil pan... good job hyundai and you wonder why the car has an 8yr warranty and costs dirt cheap, because it is CHEAP and it is worth DIRT.
I am sorry for giving you this reality check, but everyone makes mistakes, just get rid of it before you regret it!
Hyundai produces good looking car with cheap retailing price. If you drive the car to supermarket, to work or to school is fine. But please don't race with others.
THE ENGINE IS EASY TO BLOW OUT. Most of of the Hyundai cars have problem with the engine. Please take good care of the car, Tiburon can survive for >100000 miles if you take good care of it. I don't think it will blow up in 10000 miles.
I agree with the previous comment...
But when you make a car that looks sporty and you name it "shark" (Tiburon in spanish) what do you expect people to do? They think it s a race machine when in reality the only thing it has is good looks.
Two of my friends brought his 2004 Accord v6 coupe and the other brought a '03 Tiburon v6 to a local weekly street race. It was a good race, but the Tib lost to the Accord, but then the Accord lost to a '96 Ford Probe GT. It was all good, but my friend's 1 month old Accord blew its transmission the day after, had to take it back to service center to get it fixed. It never ran the same as before and he never raced it again.
My other friend's Tib still runs perfect till today. The only problem is replacing the tires every so often. He still hasn't won any races and we all agree that the Tibby ain't quite the fastest ride out there, but its look nice pimped out.
I myself don't dare trying any racing - but I am keeping a close look at the 2007 Tib...
I currently recieved a 1998 hyundai tib se from my bf for my 18th birthday. it's absolutely B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L. It has 206,000 kms on it from my constant driving now, andit runs beautifully. My car is fast enough for me and I've never had to do any repairs on my baby (just replaced the rims and tires), it's gorgeous, turns heads and everyone wants to drive it. stop hating on hyundai unless you actually drive one. Ford is a POS company, yet ppl still buy into it. so get a grip ppl and try it out before you run your mouths.
Listen, If people drive like morons and burn their engines/transmissions, then it doesn't matter what you drive or the quality of the product... especially when the car isn't a sports car. The Tiburon is a Touring car. Its comfortable, stylish, and fairly well appointed. We all know that its performance is quite lethargic, but that what the test drive is for at the dealership. The specs don't lie either. The car is fairly heavy, and produces only 181 horsepower in GT trim. Get real, you want performance, get a Z06.
-Gerry.
Did'nt another post say the TIB beat a ZO6 on a closed course?
I have had nothing, but problem with my tiburon, newmarket hyundai is the worst dealership to go to. My car is messed up and I am so pissed.
Hey I got a 03 tibby gtv6 and I put borla exhaust and borla headers, with stage 3 cai. since it's a 6 speed I love it, I raced my friends cobalt sedan, missed third slammed it back in and pulled about 6 or 7 car lengths. I was at 120mph, he was at 90-ish. I also raced a eclipse gst and kept up and had him by a nose. I know the tibs aren't that fast, but they are impressive though. Any slow civics try to swim in shark infested waters, will be eaten.
Sorry mate, but you got to be dreaming. The V6 only produces about 170 hp (168-172 depending) and even with some serious upgrading you'll struggle to get the performance past 200 hp. Borla exhaust and KN filters are not helping much it's just marketing hype. Even with free breathing via low restriction exhaust and filters and chip upgrade you are not even seeing 205 hp. Sorry mate. I've seen dyno measurement to back this up. If you are going past 205 hp you have to modify the injection (housing, injectors etc) and change cams.
You'll do all these things only to be obliterated by stock Audis running in circles around you. The Tiburon is agricultural equipment and not a sports car.
Besides, the clutch on these cars are not made to cope with 200+ hp. You'll notice slippage and you will probably wear the clutch in less than 20,000 miles. You have to change to street race type clutch. These can handle 300-400ft-lb depending on type. Stock Hyundai clutches are very weak.
I recently bought an 05 Hyundai Tiburon SE, 6-speed. Also I put on a greddy headerand cat back system, aem cold air intake, stage 3 chip, and I'm looking to supercharge it. I recently rolled up to a 2005 Dodge Neon SRT Turbo on the highway at about 70mph, he was tooling with me for awhile and was getting me pissed. Finally as we were next to each other on the highway I heard his turbo start to whistle assuming he was in 4th gear. When I heard he was trying I dumped my car into 3rd gear and it pulled me back hard. Let me tell you that neon could not keep up with me for the life of it. everyone talks junk about these new tiburons, but if they had a toyota symbol on it instead of hyundai, It would be the next toyota supra. I am very impressed at how quick they pull even in 5th and 6th gears.. and oh ya don't even try to mess with a tib se on the highway you will be put to shame!!! I hit 167 miles an hour in 6th gear and the highway ran out. beat that I can't wait to supercharge it then were talkin STi realm now.
